People and Culture Plan

BC Transit’s People and Culture Plan is a plan that has been written for BC Transit employees - and with them. It’s a plan for BC Transit’s people - specifically, how the organization will grow, support, lead and engage with our employees over the next five years. We welcome you to learn more about our organization and review our People and Culture Plan here.

BC Transit believes it’s time to re-define the relationship between employer and employee; between people leader and team - not only when we interact with each other, but how and with what tools, programs and services. We’re calling this a transformation to a people first organization.

BC’s Top Employer for 2021 and 2022

BC Transit was named one of BC’s Top Employers for 2021! This annual competition is organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, published by Mediacorp. To qualify, an employer must have its head office or principle place of business located in British Columbia. Winners are selected based on a number of criteria, including:

  • physical workspace
  • health, financial and family benefits
  • training and skills development
  • community involvement

“At BC Transit, we pride ourselves on providing our employees with a diverse, safe and engaging work environment where they can thrive and grow. This honour is testament to the collective dedication, teamwork and energy shared at all levels of the organization. I could not be more proud of our team.”

– Erinn Pinkerton, President and Chief Executive Officer

The announcement was published in the Vancouver Sun and in an extended online feature. The BC Transit article focuses on the organization’s fast response to Covid-19, both from a frontline Transit Operator’s perspective and in terms of support for office staff. The story features quotes from President and CEO Erinn Pinkerton, and Transit Operator Sandra Hunt.

BC Transit shares this recognition with all our local government partners and operating companies that continue to collaborate with us in delivering transportation solutions our customers can rely on.

VISION FOR A PEOPLE FIRST CULTURE

We believe in creating an organizational people culture where employees feel empowered to not only do their best work but also take ownership in growing and developing their careers. We embrace differences, value diversity and inclusion, and support the notion that not everything has to be perfect the first time around. Safety, physical, mental health and wellness are prioritized. People are trusted, respected and have clear purpose. Putting people first means we consider people in every business decision we make.
