Accountant, Capital Funding

Location: Victoria, BC

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (6 Month Contract)

Salary: Exempt Band 2, MIN $68,300.00 - MAX $91,900.00

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Manager, Asset Accounting, you will support BC Transit’s capital funding process through the following: 

  • Downloading transactions (general ledger details) from Hubble and input into Excel spreadsheet
  • Manually completing Federal listing file (in Excel) by typing in relevant financial information and ensure it ties to the general ledger details
  • Matching the general ledger details with external invoice support where appropriate to ensure it ties/agrees
  • Refreshing pivot tables in standardized Excel spreadsheet where applicable
  • Corresponding with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to request invoice support if required
  • Cleansing Excel listings and prep external invoices
  • Corresponding with Accountant and Senior Accountant, Asset Management

What you'll bring to the table...

We love lifelong Learners and recommend the following mix of education or certifications to be successful in conjunction with relevant experience:

  • Good understanding of technical accounting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency level in Excel to use customized spreadsheets to meet internal and external reporting and billing requirements. Experience with pivot tables is an asset.
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, and knowledge of data collection and analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with computerized financial systems in a mid-to-large sized organization.
