What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Supervisor Maintenance, the E-Technician performs troubleshooting, testing, repair, interfacing and overhaul of complex electrical, electronic devices and components of BC Transit’s fleet which includes computer hardware, automated fare collection equipment, user interfaces, peripherals, and legacy multiplex systems.  Will be required to perform installations, retrofits as well as preventive and scheduled maintenance on all electrical/electronic systems including radios, Wi-Fi, cellular, CCTV, telematics and other future systems.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role: 

  • Electronics Technology Diploma from a recognized technical institute with documented education in computer-controlled power systems, power electrical/electronic and semi-conductor applications
  • In the absence of education, two or more years’ experience in a related field along with one year of direct troubleshooting and repair experience of bus electrical systems or comparable heavy truck/marine systems would be considered an asset

The physical requirements of the role...

The physical demands of the BC Electronic Technician most often requires manual handling of loads between 10 kg and 20 kg (NOC Medium Strength Requirement) on a frequent basis, and over 20 Kg (Heavy Requirement) on a minimal basis with no loads exceeding 44kg.
