Union: MOVEUP 

Monthly Salary Range: MoveUp Group 12, MIN $7,668.00 - MAX $9,199.00 is available through annual general wage/step increases.

Recruitment Range: MIN $7,668 – STEP 3 $8,515.

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet Project Engineering the Program Build Inspector is responsible for providing technical oversight and ensuring quality assurance during the production of new bus builds. 


You possess strong technical knowledge and are highly analytical. You are adaptable and thrive on variety of work where no two days are the same. You are ready to take the next steps in your career and dive into a challenging, fast paced role with BC Transit. You will be able to resolve fleet maintenance issues on a daily basis and make recommendations. You will be able to share your knowledge by being involved in training as you assess, develop and deliver onsite and in-classroom training programs and presentations related to maintenance.

What you'll bring to the table...

We love lifelong learners and have found the following mix of education, certifications and experience and attitudes have led people to be successful in the past:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • A trades qualification in Commercial Vehicle Transport, with advanced courses, or related fields
  • Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP), Motor Vehicle Act and regulations, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and National Safety Code (NSC)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to read and understand complex technical documents
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficient with computers and possess solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Supervisory or leadership skills an asset
