Salary: Exempt Band 5, MIN $86,300.00 - MAX $116,700.00

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In addition, our pay philosophy is to align with the median of the range and be considerate of internal equity comparisons.

In the role of Indigenous Relations Manager, you will play an important role in advancing our EDI vision.  You will support the development of a First Nations strategy roadmap and facilitate collaborative partnerships with Indigenous communities that lead to effective transportation solutions.  You will identify and recommend innovative policy and funding solutions that further our efforts towards reconciliation, and will play a key role in the planning and implementation of crucial actions or activities identified within the strategy roadmap.  You will be a pivotal liaison with the provincial government, and the various Ministries that are actively engaged in Indigenous reconciliation.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role: 


  • Progressive experience in Indigenous Relations and engagement in a business environment (public or private sector).         
  • Proven experience advancing Indigenous reconciliation programs and initiatives through relationship building and client management skills. 
  • Advanced written and oral presentation and communication skills are required
  • Sound project management skills and business acumen 
  • A demonstrated knowledge of public transportation issues would be an asset.


As lived experience is an asset for this role, preference will be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous. Recognizing that there are a variety of terms that potential candidates may use to self-identify, BC Transit uses the term “Indigenous” in this search to encompass the people of Turtle Island, including those who identify with Aboriginal, First Nations (Status/Non-Status), Metis or Inuk (Inuit) cultural and/or ancestral background.
