Monthly Salary Range: MoveUp Group 11 with TMA, MIN $7,587.00 - MAX $9,110.00 is available through annual general wage/step increases.
Recruitment Range: MIN $7,587.00 – STEP 3 $8,429.00.
Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

What you'll be doing...
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Data & Analytics, the Intermediate Data Analyst supports and enhances the ability of business users across the organization to generate insights from data.
This is accomplished through the execution of tasks in several domains of data management including data governance, data architecture, data engineering, business intelligence and advanced analytics. The Intermediate Data Analyst is a strong data generalist and with support from senior members on the team, performs a key role in everything from designing and creating self-serve reports and BI models, to developing and sustaining secure and reliable data pipelines. The Intermediate Data Analyst is a champion for professional data management and promotes best practices, security, governance, and innovation across the enterprise data community.
This role requires a considerable level of professional data management experience, analytical ability and technical engineering knowledge. The Intermediate Data Analyst role also requires the ability to collaborate well, cover a broad spectrum of use cases and support business users from diverse subject areas with varying needs.
To be successful in this role the Intermediate Data Analyst will have demonstrated previous successes in multiple areas of data management such as business intelligence, data engineering, data warehouse design, data operations and data governance. They should have technical proficiency in Python and or R in the context of data and analytics. In addition, they will be well versed in data governance and architecture concepts, including how to capture and manage real world entities and measures in digital analytical models. Experience with or understanding how to work with spatial data would be considered an asset.

What you'll bring to the table...
- Experience in one or more data management disciplines including, analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, data engineering, or data governance.
- One year to be proficient in the role.
- Demonstrated experience using SQL or analytical languages (Python, R, Scala …) to ingest, manipulate, clean and prepare data for business intelligence, data mining, machine learning or other analytical processes.
- Experience designing and implementing data models for sustainable and scalable use in could data warehouses, data lakes, and business intelligence reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with distributed computing and cloud data platform technology, such as Spark, MS Synapse, MS Fabric, etc.
- Ability to support to project and initiative implementations from the lens of a technical data professional.
- Experience with GIS mapping software or spatial datasets would be an asset.
- Experience with analytics, reporting and data management in a public transit context would be considered an asset.
- Exposure to implementing and maintaining AI/ML models in production and how to manage their deployment using CI/CD and version control would be an asset.
We value lifelong learners and have found that a mix of any of the following credentials have set people up for success in this role in the past:
- Cloud Data Analytics or Engineering certification (Azure, Google, AWS, Cloudera, PowerBI) or equivalent
- GIS certification (GISP, ESRI) or equivalent
- Certified Data Management Professional certification (CDMP) or equivalent
