Employment Type:  Regular Full Time

Salary: Exempt Band 6, MIN $99,500.00 - MED $123,300.00 - MAX $147,100.00

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In addition, our pay philosophy is to align with the median of the range and be considerate of internal equity comparisons.

What you'll be doing...

People in communities all over the Province of British Columbia, depend on BC Transit to deliver transportation services they can rely on. This requires an effective approach to Enterprise Risk Management to facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and senior level decision-making to contribute to the successful delivery of BC Transit’s Strategic Plan. BC Transit’s Enterprise Risk Management program will enhance our ability to successfully achieve our strategic plan through improved allocation of resources, increase effectiveness and efficiency and most importantly, decrease the number of unforeseen, high-impact events from occurring. 
 
As the Manager, Enterprise Risk, Legal and Claims, you will lead the development and maintenance of BC Transit’s enterprise risk management program, the insurance portfolio, legal and claims along with the contracted internal audit function.  The individual will work with diverse internal and external partner groups in complex and sensitive situations and is required to have advanced relationship building and problem-solving skills.  You will assist with policy development, planning and implementation of cross-divisional initiatives and contribute to achieving the corporate goals of BC Transit.

What you'll bring to the table...

We love lifelong Learners and recommend the following mix of education or certifications to be successful in conjunction with relevant experience:

  • Post-Secondary degree in business, finance, law, or a related discipline
  • Completion of one or more risk management or insurance qualifications such as Canadian Risk Management (CRM), RIMS Fellow (RF) designations and Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience five (5) of which should include senior level management; preference given to those who have worked in a unionized environment. 
  • Proven success in a similar strategic role in a complex organization, implementing new frameworks and transforming existing processes
  • Demonstrated aptitude for risk management, problem solving, process building and relationship management
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
