Employment Type:  Regular Full Time

Annual Salary Range: Exempt Band 6, MIN $102,400.00 - MED $126,900.00 - MAX $151,500.00

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In addition, our pay philosophy is to align with the median of the comparable market and to be considerate of internal equity comparisons.

What you'll be doing...

Our Director, Enterprise Technology, is seeking a systems-savvy leader who can bridge IT stability with technology innovation. As Manager, Technical Services, you’ll lead two critical technology domains that keep BC Transit moving!  

 

Infrastructure Leadership: You'll oversee a seasoned team of network, communications, storage, compute, and cloud & server specialists who maintain the stable, resilient backbone of BC Transit’s IT environment. This foundational technology will evolve thoughtfully with the times – balancing innovation with reliability. You’ll ensure our hybrid infrastructure remains secure, available, and ready to support the organization’s mission. Upcoming priorities include assessing and enhancing our business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities and delivering a roadmap that safeguards operations for years to come. 

 

On-Board Innovation: You'll also lead our in-demand Smart Bus team – the people behind the onboard and operational technologies that connect our fleet, operators, and riders. This includes technologies like computer aided dispatch & automatic vehicle location, automatic passenger counting, CCTV, vehicle telematics, electronic fare collection and the platforms enabling our fleet electrification. You will think beyond the bus, with scope that extends to yard technology, bus stops, vision-based systems, ride planning tools and strategies to optimize charging infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for shaping the future of our on-board ecosystem by developing reference architectures and tong-term technology roadmaps. 

Your mission is to build a forward-looking technology roadmap that sparks innovation while aligning with BC Transit’s capital plans. You will evolve the team and their processes from project-focused to strategic partners by cultivating strong relationships with Operations, Fleet, Customer Experience, and other Technology teams. You will drive scalable architectures that integrate intelligent transportation systems and IT platforms into a cohesive future-ready solution.

What you'll bring to the table...

  • Post secondary degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and/ or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) accreditation is an asset
  • Five (5) years related experience in progressive management experience in design, configuration and management of complex information systems in a virtual environment
  • Experience with financial management building and managing both project and operating budgets
  • Working in a unionized environment an asset
  • Understanding of change management principles and techniques to effectively drive organizational change
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues (root case analysis) plus experience working with Windows operating systems, Oracle database systems and web-based platforms
