What you'll be doing...

The Senior Project Engineer, Infrastructure Electrification will be a key player in BC Transit’s Low Carbon Fleet Program and will contribute towards our goal of achieving greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. This key role will serve as an internal electrical infrastructure subject matter expert for all charging related projects. The Senior Project Engineer will provide professional reviews and direction for charging infrastructure projects. These projects will range from new depots, existing depot retrofits and other locations. They will support complex charging infrastructure projects and ensure successful implementation. This is an exciting innovative role at the forefront of the rapid shift towards battery electric transportation!

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role: 

  • Experience within Senior Engineering role or equivalent progressively responsible experience in engineering design and construction 
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as a P.Eng
  • Knowledge and understanding of WorkSafe BC Practices and Protocol, Workers’ Compensation Act and OH&S Regulations with emphasis on worker/contractor safety and employers responsibilities 
  • Knowledge of electrical infrastructure design
  • Knowledge of construction site health and safety requirements
  • Communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer facing skills are required
  • Strong scope management and monitoring skills, including implications to project budget and schedule 
  • Demonstrated experience with preliminary and detailed design functions and carrying out feasibility studies including cost estimates. 
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of detailed technical reports, specifications, drawings and narratives.
  • Demonstrated experience in summarizing technical information into memo format to support decision making.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and construction management, drawing review, construction monitoring, preparing work plans, contract documents and possessing good negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft suite of applications, spreadsheets, drafting programs

  • Interviews will take place between October 24th and 27th.
