Employment Type:  Regular Full Time

Annual Salary Range: Exempt Band 6, MIN $99,500.00 - MED $123,300.00 - MAX $147,100.00

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In addition, our pay philosophy is to align with the median of the comparable market and to be considerate of internal equity comparisons.

What you'll be doing...

BC Transit’s Operations Division is responsible for the delivery of transit service throughout the Province outside of Metro Vancouver.  Among the Division’s three departments is Victoria Transit Operations, which is responsible for the provision of drivers (Transit Operators), the delivery of a reliable customer centric transit service, and proactively influencing and responding to our customers’ experience.    

 

The Senior Service Delivery Manager provides strategic direction and mentorship to a management team of up to six with the objective of ensuring an engaged, high performing, and efficient workforce.  This role ensures and supports their management team’s effectiveness in leading a large  group of 600+ Transit Operators in the delivery of  safe, reliable, and customer centric service across Southern Vancouver Island.    

 

Critical components of this role include promoting the ongoing and meaningful engagement with Transit Operators, ensuring performance challenges are addressed in a timely and consistent manner, and sufficient attention is given to the efficiency of the workforce including absenteeism and supportive initiatives that reduce lost time due to injury.  This role also acts on behalf of the Director as requested by representing the department on committees and projects.  

 

Your day to day work is diverse and could include everything from meeting with operators and their union representatives, researching and drafting operational policy, going out on the road to meet with operators and planning and hosting special events throughout the year. What you'll bring to the table...

  • Progressive management experience with a demonstrated ability to influence performance and drive continuous improvement of direct reports through coaching and mentoring. 
  • Experience working in a unionized environment to drive collaborative change and positive outcomes on sometimes challenging or sensitive issues  
  • Previous experience applying progressive discipline in a unionized environment  
  • A demonstrated ability to influence and successfully implement change management programs 
  • The proven ability to implement and influence customer centric service through developing and improving upon Key Performance Indicators 
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques within public transit, specifically transit operations would be an asset
