What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Daily Shift Manager, the Tire Person mounts and replaces tires, repairs flats and balances wheels on all BC Transit vehicles. The Tire Person is responsible for replacing worn and unusable tires on rims with new, used or recapped tires and torques wheels, performs re-torques as per BC Transit and CVSE guidelines. Responsible for managing and delivering tire inventory for all garage locations.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found that a mix of any of the following credentials have set people up for success in this role in the past: 

  • Experience in mounting, dismounting passenger and commercial vehicle tires of all types and sizes related to Transit buses and non-revenue vehicles operated by BC Transit
  • A valid driver’s licence – minimum Class 5
  • Class 2 Learners AND a temporary #15 air brake restriction/endorsement required for the first day of employment or already hold a Class 3 licence with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Ability to obtain a valid Class 2 driver’s licence with air brakes within the probation period, and capable of, after on-the-job training, holding a class 2 license
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive ICBC medical examination relating to the Motor Vehicle Act requirement for a Class 2 driver’s licence
