Monthly Salary Range: MoveUp Group 11, MIN $7,025.00 - MAX $8,435.00 is available through annual general wage/step increases.

Recruitment Range: MIN $7,025 – STEP 3 $7,805.

Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

What you'll be doing...

The Regional Systems Planning team strives to provide customer focused, efficient, reliable transit service to the community. Under direction of the BC Transit Regional Systems Service Planning Manager and the guidance of Senior Transit Planners, you will be responsible for the planning, designing, analyzing, monitoring, evaluating and modifying the service strategies to support the efficient operation of regional transit systems throughout British Columbia. 

Regional transit systems progress through several operational service changes each calendar year. The successful candidate will focus on supporting the implementation of these service changes using their skills in planning, project management and teamwork. 

You will preferably have a minimum of two years’ experience delivering transportation planning work in a mid to large transport system. You understand the principles and mechanisms which support the development of transit network planning and service delivery including the relationship between planning and scheduling.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role: 

  • Related experience providing expertise and leading projects in an agency specializing in planning or Transportation
  • Strong computer literacy skills using Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail and sound project management skills
  • Completion of a certificate course in basic transit scheduling considered an asset 
  • The competencies for the position would typically be acquired through a degree in planning, engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Demonstrated Ability to:

  • Identify problems, develop and evaluate options and implement solutions using reason and judgement and prescribed resources
  • Analyze demographic trends, origin/destination matrices and other transit planning projections
  • Interpret and analyze data, able to identify challenges or opportunities and make recommendations
  • Read and interpreting plans, maps and infrastructure drawings
  • Think and act strategically in a community service environment
